SCDS provides ongoing development opportunities over a period of 9 to 18 months, for Superintending ranks and equivalent police staff,
who have the support of their Head of HR and/or Chief Constable,
to prepare for the Senior Police National Assessment Centre (Senior PNAC) and the Strategic Command Course (SCC).
Development opportunities include:
- Personal & Professional Development Planning (PDP)
- Development Advisor (DA) one-to-one sessions
- Events Programme of workshop activities
- Peer Assisted Learning
- Secondments
- Work-Shadowing
- Coaching
The Events Programme of workshop activities is reviewed and refined each year on the basis of feedback from previous participants&'#46;
Events Programmes for 2009 and 2010 can be viewed.
How Do I Access the Senior PNAC & SCC Preparation Development Stream?
Complete the SPNAC & SCC Preparation Application Form and forward to your Head of HR.
Your Head of HR will confirm your eligibility. note any costs associated with your request. and will subsequently forward your application to SCDS.
A Development Advisor will be allocated to work with you and will arrange to meet with you to commence your SCDS participation.
Costs
- Diagnostic Tools
The on-line completion and analysis cost of tools will be recovered in full from your Force
- Events Programme of workshop activities
The Senior PNAC & SCC Preparation Events Programme attracts a 50% SCDS discount, with the remaining 50% payable by your Force.
This programme costs approximately £3.5 - £5.5K per client, per year (discount applied).
- Development Advisor
Development Advisor time for individual sessions,
feedback of diagnostic tools and design and facilitation of workshops incurs no cost to Forces.
Diversity Monitoring
You will be asked to complete a Diversity monitoring form.
This information will be recorded anonymously for management information purposes.
