Yes, if you are a member of Police Staff you are eligible to enter into an SCQF Level 7 course or above depending on your specific circumstances.

Q: Can I get credit for previous qualifications?
Yes, however you will be required to prove that your previous learning and the assessment of that learning fully match the outcomes from the relevant unit of the qualification. This learning will also need to have currency i.e. less than three years since completion. Candidates applying for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) will be required to pay a fee, which will be subject to variation depending upon current costs.

Q: I am a Constable who has passed all three promotion exams, what qualifications can I enter into?
You would be eligible to enter into an SCQF Level 7 course or above depending on your specific circumstances and background qualifications.

Q: Will it cost me anything to undertake the qualifications?
Yes, cost is a factor which will be determined by the level of entry and exit to and from the programme. Individual forces may be in a position to assist in funding.

Q: I am above the rank of constable but do not hold any formal qualifications, what is available to me?
You would be eligible to enter into a Professional Development Award in Police Service Leadership & Management SCQF level 9 (ordinary degree equivalent i.e. BA). Access to this programme recognises the professional experience and prior learning of existing managers within the police service.

Q: I already hold a degree, what value is this programme to me?
There are a number of professional skills that are required in a wide range of careers in the Police service. Units can be selected according to the development needs of the applicant and the degree already held. The content of the learning is paramount rather than the qualification attained.
